It all begins with one conversation.
Over the past several months, the Your Place CT team has had the privilege of joining the incredible youth of Our Piece of the Pie’s Piece Out group for ongoing conversations that matter. What began as one vulnerable dialogue—filled with shared stories, honest questions, and real challenges—sparked a commitment between us and the youth to help shape OPP into a space where every young person feels seen, respected, and safe.
Each month, we come together to explore LGBTQIA+ topics, build awareness, and strengthen allyship. These sessions aren’t just about information; they’re about connection. They’re about creating a culture where youth can show up authentically, where staff and caretakers feel supported, and where families have access to the resources they need.
From that very first conversation, we made a pact: to hold this space with intention, compassion, and respect. And every month, that promise grows stronger.
Because real change—lasting, meaningful change—always starts the same way.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
